Tim McClellan is a designer, builder, and storyteller inspired by the rich history and dramatic landscapes of the American West. Seamlessly navigating between his passion for everything from furniture to classic American trucks, from leather goods to homespace, Tim’s designs and projects share a common theme:

Tim’s poignant wit, adventurous spirit and well-honed talent connect him with millions of fans as he weaves humour, history, artistry and ingenuity into the design, fabrication and construction of extraordinary,
 hand-built creations.  

Born in Florida and raised east of the Mississippi as one of 9 children, Tim headed West immediately after high school. After stints in Idaho and Washington, he landed in the historic copper mining town of Jerome, Arizona in 1995. From Jerome’s former high school gymnasium, McClellan launched Western Heritage Furniture, a custom high-end furniture company. Tim left Western Heritage in 2016 to focus on Tim McClellan Designs.

Tim is a pioneer in the world of refined rustic design, reclaimed barnwood furniture, and mixed media designs using leather, copper, steel, iron, and exotic finishes. McClellan has been influenced by the “simplicity and beauty of Mission Style, the artistry and engineering of Japanese Joinery, and the clean lines and stunning hardwoods of Early American Arts and Crafts.

Self-taught and disciplined, Tim studied books checked out from local libraries on historic and contemporary construction techniques, and then experimented to hone his craft. When it comes to construction, McClellan is meticulous, “I believe in old world craftsmanship, hand tools and fundamental, time-proven techniques.”

Storyteller


Tim’s passion for design and creation is matched by his charismatic storytelling. “Not only do I love the creative process of working with my mind and my hands, I equally love telling the story of the struggles overcome, failures experienced and victories achieved in arriving at a successful design.” explains Tim. Tim has appeared on HGTV’s Ellen’s Design Challenge, The Ellen Degeneres Show, ABC’s The Fab Life, Arizona Highways TV, Arizona 3TV, and and hosts his own show, Boomtown Builder for the DIY Network.
